Come on.. No choices.. This is Monte Carlo and the next round will be easier, so be fit Richard!

Allez Richard! And I expect better serves in the next match!

Btw, thanks for the interview Ronan.

The good thing is he almost reached rock bottom in his way of playing and confidence currently so he can only go up from here...

Just get better match after match if possible!

C'mon Richard!

Default Re: O_o_O_o_O Claycourt Season O_o_O_o_O

I think it is way too dramatic to say he's almost "hitting the rock bottom".
I don't think it's true in tennis anyway, I've seen a lot of free falls on the contrary, when you start feeling lost out there, it is very difficult to come back.
Now it isn't at all Richie's situation. He's had two tough matches, that's it.

Here’s the match report in L’Équipe today:
Quote:

He almost choked at the end of the 1st set... It went from 5-0, Hrbaty serving to prevent a bagel to 5-3 and 6 BPs for Hrbaty...

And he made 5 DFs and his serve in parts of both sets was...

But apart from that it was much better than yesterday! Despite still staying quite far from the baseline he attacked much more, passed Hrbaty on numerous occasions and made a few beautiful lobs...

But let's not forget Hrbaty's game suits him...

After he'll face either Sexy Radek or Ljubo "the true top 3"... They are playing right now...

solid performance from Richard and obviously much better than yesterday. He got a right arm/shoulder treatment between the first and second set. I hope this was nothing serious.

Serving still could be better, but the FH was quite consistent, versatility was good and the body language was strong throughout. Well done!

So 6-3, 6-2 in 1h27 is ok after yesterday's match... But there's still the doubles with Bennet' who lost today...

Oh yeah i forgot to mention this medical time-out... It could explain the DFs and the bad serve... I hope it was just sore muscles...

I'd like to say 'it' boy Radek and 'bright' head Ljubo as well.

That explains his new shoes. (I know it's fascinating...)

What does his shoes sponsor think about it?...

Or has he used a "medical excuse"?...

It won't matter, since I'm quite sure he'll lose to Ljubo or Sexy.

He should tell them that their (Lacoste?) shoes suck and that's why he wants to wear Adidas shoes. I think it's really silly of him to wear uncomfortable shoes just because he feels obliged to. It might end up worsening his injury.

BTW, interestingly enough, Doug Adler (one of the commentators) feels that it is his serve which is holding him back from reaching the Top 10 because he doesn't win enough free points off it. I think he has a point.

I still wonder why he can't serve like he did in mid-2005. A pity, really...

I think his shoes sponsor is Asics (no? Lacoste shoes ...) but i completely agree with you. Players should wear confortable clothes all the time...
