You're aracnophobic too? OMG, the movie Aracnophobia is my worst nightmare. I kept wanting to scream but I was at the cinema, so it wouldn't have been appropriate.

Re: Last Movie you watched, and what you thought about it?
Mulholland Drive, a couple of really hot lesbo scenes between naomi Watts & Laura Herring. Weird movie though. I give it 3 out of 5 stars.
Did I say it had a really hot lesbo scene, mmm, mmm, mm, m mmm!

Drive - Ryan Gosling
is the last movie that had be thinking like shit for hours aftwards.
brilliantly shot. stylish. great soundtrack. relatively thought provoking.
catch it if you haven't yet... as long as you dig/can handle movies that start out a bit slow

Why nevenez is reviving all these threads?
"I love miami". It's a pretty nice movie, 3.5 stars

It's David Lynch. Of course it's going to be "weird". It's a masterpiece and probably, alongside Billy Wilder's Sunset Blvd. and the Coen Brothers' Barton Fink, the best film to look into the corruption and darkness of Hollywood. For more weirdness, watch Lost Highway, Inland Empire and Eraserhead.
And my dream came true when Naomi Watts made love with another woman.

Re: Last Movie you watched, and what you thought about it?
There are 3 or 4 movie threads now? Ridiculous. Showed the mods which ones to merge. Nothing was done. Quality of website suffers therefore: fragmentation, alienation, consternation

Re: Last Movie you watched, and what you thought about it?
Tokyo Story (1953)
A profound and somewhat poignant depiction into the value of family in capitalist post-WWII Japan. Very few filmmakers can be sentimental and compassionate without feeling contrived or overly-manipulative - Ozu is one of them. Avant-garde cinema at its finest. Ozu provides quite the stylistic contrast from his other two other main contemporaries in Kurosawa and Mizoguchi. The camera only moves once in this film, and it was a relatively minimal panning shot. It's a very bleak film but has an underlying sense of optimism throughout, primarily in its central characters.

Re: Last Movie you watched, and what you thought about it?
Late Spring (1949)
The beginning of postwar Ozu. A critique of marriage, in many respects, and a poignant look into the ideas of modernity vs. tradition. Ozu is a master at exploring social constraints and how they affect the lives of middle class families. The ending is incredibly beautiful but also quite bittersweet. This film is just about as "anti-Hollywood" as it can get; it goes against all normal filmic conventions we've grown accustomed to seeing in the West. In spite of Ozu never marrying nor having a family of his own, he seemed to understand the psychology and social functions of marriage. A fine character study and one of the best films the Eastern world has to offer. Ozu was one of a kind.
