Default Matthias Mazur

Apparently he's Olivier Rochus sparring partner.
He was the surprise guest at an exhibition tourney in Belgium when Xavier Malisse was forced to pull out with an injury and we all had the pleasure of seeing him in action against the world number 7 Tommy Robredo. He eventually lost 6-3, 6-1.

Any more info on the guy would be welcome.

I don't personnaly think this guy is a real promise to be once a good player but I have never seen him play apart form the video you posted where I don't see real great talent IMO. His swiss ranking is not that great (n°45)!

I think the young swiss players that I mentionned in this thread: http://www.menstennisforums.com/showthread.php?t=88950 are more likely to become good players, at least some of them (r. roshardt).

I don't know... give him a few more years and experience and I think he's got a chance of being top 30 or so. Of course he's the only Swiss youngster I've seen so...

Nice video, but can't judge his talent there at all. But the description there, stating that he is still a junior, is wrong. If he's twenty years old, he can't be a junior anymore.

This is his activity:

And junior activity:

2-6 0-6 to Ruiz-Cadeñas
1-6 4-6 to Pexa
2-6 2-6 to Valtzer
0-6 0-6 to Niland
4-6 2-6 to Matkowski
2-6 0-6 to Guenat

And then a bunch of wins and losses against players I have never heard of. But the aforementioned players are all not stars (nor futures stars) in singles. They are struggling in Challenger Qualies, Futures and qualies of small ATP events. Clearly, Mazur hasn't got a big future on the Tour if he loses 0-6 0-6 to Niland at the age of 19.

Oh, and in juniors his results are abysmal too.

Aha, that's another story then I was grossly misinformed. Must go hunt down those people now.
Ignore my post then.

No worries

I was wondering about him too after I read about the exhibition and that is the info I came across. Really, he doesn't seem that special, but good luck to him nonetheless.

Good luck too him but you're right I don't think he will be that special. I think we have other guys in switzerland to follow right now. I indeed expect a lot from r. roshardt. I saw him play this summer in the geneva challenger and he's got a great game. The only thing is he has to build up his body and show consistency!!!
