Default Tie-break's stuff

Goran Ivanisevic
the biggest specialist of winning long tie-breaks (9-0 record in tie-breaks with at least 24 points!)

Interesting tie-break stuff - records
  • The longest tie-break in tennis history: Bjorn Borg defeated Premjit Lall 6-3, 6-4, 9-8(20/18) at Wimbledon 1973. The Borg's record has been equaled five times by four players (Ivanisevic, Federer, Acasuso, Tsonga).

Here are the matches with the longest tie-breaks (in terms of points) in singles:

Default Re: Tie-break's stuff

M.Damm / L.Paes - J.Auckland / S.Huss 7-6(4) 7-6(4) 3-6 7-6(3), from the 2nd round today.
I think the stuff you wrote in this earlier thread dealing with the same subject, also deserve a mention, esp. the two 21-19s in qualies.

P.S. I was lucky enough to catch that Federer-Safin TB. If I am not mistaken, it should have been shorter, Federer had a winner called out at 12-11 or so, unless I'm mixing it with something else...

I've added Damm & Paes.
I don't want to add those two 21-19 because I know matches from qualies with tie-breaks only since 1997.

Default Re: Tie-break's stuff

Another one for you from the doubles' 2nd round:
H.Levy / R.Ram - M.Garcia / S.Prieto 7-6(0) 6-7 (4) 7-6(4) 6-7 (3) 10-8
(I'm quite happy with the outcome for obvious reasons )

Going over your lists, it's only the second time, singles or doubles, that a 5-setter has gone to 6-6 in each set (happened once before seven years ago at the same venue).

P.S. is there any reliable place to see the match stats, or at least its length? The official scoreboard in the tournament site has some bugs regarding this in doubles matches.
