I heard the same about Scude and Thierry while I was in Bercy. I saw him at one of Hicham's qualy matches.

Absent du circuit depuis six mois à cause d’une blessure à la hanche, Nicolas Escudé a repris l’entraînement avec son nouvel entraîneur, Thierry Champion. Ce dernier nous donne des nouvelles du « Scud » qui effectuera son retour à la compétition le 5 janvier, au tournoi de Doha.

Thierry Champion, comment s’est passée la reprise pour Nicolas Escudé après six mois d’absence ?
Pour le moment, ça se passe bien. Il fait une reprise en douceur parce qu’il s’est arrêté six mois et qu’on ne peut pas compromettre ses chances en reprenant trop vite. Nicolas se sent de mieux en mieux. On a commencé il y a deux semaines par 30 minutes par jour et aujourd’hui, il joue à peu près 1h30, 2h par jour. Je pense qu’il pourrait faire plus mais nous restons prudents en étant à l’écoute de son corps. Mais pour le moment, il n’y a pas d’alerte, tout se passe bien.

Quand a-t-il prévu de faire son retour à la compétition ?
Si tout va bien, le 5 janvier au tournoi de Doha. Il enchaînera ensuite par l’Open d’Australie. C’est ce que nous avons prévu mais dès qu’il s’emploiera un peu plus physiquement à l’entraînement, on en saura plus. Il faut encore attendre un peu avant de se prononcer même si, comme je vous le disais, Nicolas se porte bien pour l’instant.

Que peut-il espérer pour la saison à venir ?
Des espoirs et des objectifs, il en a. Mais pour le moment, nous n’en sommes pas là. La première phase est de savoir s’il est capable de tenir le choc physiquement lors de grosses séances d’entraînement. Après, quand on dispute un grand chelem en ayant pas joué depuis six mois, forcément, on espère bien y jouer. Mais déjà, qu’il reprenne la compétition. Quand il aura enchaîné les matchs et les tournois, à ce moment là, on y verra plus clair. Il est donc encore trop tôt pour parler des ses objectifs.

Aujourd’hui, vous vous occupez de Nicolas Escudé et d’Hicham Arazi. Comment allez-vous vous organiser une fois que la saison reprendra ?
Déjà, Nicolas a repris il y a quinze jours. Cela correspondait avec la fin de saison d’Hicham qui partait ensuite en vacances. Ce n’était pas plus mal, cela m’a permis d’être seul avec Nicolas et d’entamer une reprise en étant un peu plus avec lui. Maintenant, les deux joueurs sont parfaitement au courant qu’ils vont devoir faire des efforts. En dehors du terrain, ce sont deux joueurs qui s’entendaient déjà bien. Alors c’est vrai que tout le monde va devoir y mettre du sien mais je pense sincèrement que ça va bien se passer. Ils vont pratiquement jouer les mêmes tournois lors des quatre cinq premiers mois et il n’y a pas de raison pour que ça se passe mal.

Steph, it is a short summary of Nicolas' progress and anticipated return to the circuit along with Thierry's explanation of how he will be able to coach both Nicolas and Hicham without trouble (my French is poor, but it looks to me that they will have identical schedules for the first 3-4 months...)

Sorry if that was no help, I am learning French (slowly, but trying!) and don't always get everything without using an online translator. I wanted to see if I could get the meaning without having to use it for once. So Frenchies, correct any of my inaccuracies!!!!!
