Más vale maña que fuerza -- proverbio español
"Pero, con todos mis respetos para Rafa, Federer tiene más talento." - Marat Safin
"Pero para mí el mejor es Roger Federer. / For me, the best is Roger Federer." - D. Nalbandian
"He's the best sportsman, I think, in the world. He has a lot of humble." - Rafael Nadal
"He's so charismatic." - Marcos Baghdatis
Here's my thought, after having a day to think about the match. I didn't see the match, but the score would indicate that physically he can keep up with the big servers, but he's not there just yet mentally. In Vienna last week, he at least had two matches to prepare for Nalbandian and Stepanek, but this week he didn't have that luxury to work his way in. The final in Vienna also indicates the same thing; he played great in his matches leading up to the final, but he wasn't there mentally.
It's just a waiting game now, for when he'll get that one big win again to boost his confidence and get his mind and body working in sync once more. Getting a smaller title might help to build him up to that big win as well. It'd probably take a win over Roger or Nadal for JC to get back on track.
I think he has done well this year. If you think where he was in the race at the start of the year and how he has worked his way up he has done well. Next year he needs to just build on the confidence and get a few titles under his belt early.
