Murray has never played a 250 clay event in his entire career. If he had done regularly, then this wouldn't really have been a topic since I'm sure he'd have at least captured a single tournament on clay. I really don't think the clay field, in particular, is that strong these days and hasn't been for some time.

He can try in Umag.
He should also take Kim with him and have a great vacation. Of course he can come without Kim as well.

i think his body movements are more suited to hard than clay has a lot of stop and go motions not really smooth or fluid.
Compared to hardcourt tennis the role of the forehand is enhanced on clay being the main shot to dictate point play (as seen by nadal) and murray has by far the weakest forehand of the top guys. He could easily grab a 500 title but i guess at this point in his career only a master will suffice.

Ever is a very long time and Murray is still quite young but for such a fine player who has been at the very top for so long his records on clay are surprisingly poor. Pretty much as soon as he gets a decent clay player he loses. IMO he's outside the top 20 on clay and unless he tries to vulture a weak 250 I see little hope he'll capture a title on clay.

In fairness he has had some pretty good results on clay.

If you go back to 2011 he made the SFs of Monte Carlo (lost in 3 to Rafa), Rome (lost in a 3rd set tie break to Novak) and the French Open (lost to Rafa is straights but was competitive throughout). Madrid where he lost to Bellucci in R3 was his only poor result.

Since then he has clearly not done so well but has obviously had back problems playing on the surface. If the operation allows him to get back to 2011 levels on clay he has a chance of winning something.

Am sure he will vulture a 250 but can't see him winning anything higher than that.

Murray won the 'Beat Nadal in a clay practice set' title.

Murray doesn't vulture

I think last year the points ratio showed he vultures the least, only 250 he enters are AO warm up and Queens which is soon to be a 500 anyways

still, he should vulture for sure, hopefully he goes to Portugal this year

then again for Murray on clay a 250 latter stages is his level

Murray bageled him apparently or is this just a lie

shows how serious practice sets are

Nadal was probably too busy laughing at his movement and forehand to do anything
