You know what it says? If you want to be the best in the world, you have to win your maiden title within first 50 main-level tournaments

Yes, you´re right, but if someone wins ATP tournament in his first appearance, that can be only luck (and it´s usually on small tournament, with weaker players). It´s difference between tournament and TOURNAMENT. And since year 2000 it´s different situation than before, now top players must play chosen tournaments, before 2000 no tournament was mandatory (if someone didn´t want to play some Grand Slams, it was his problem, there were no ranking penalties for that, just simple counting of best 14 results from any tournaments in the rankings (I mean 90´s now)). But nice stats anyway

Hi VDM! You haven't been posting in the GM lately. Who do you think would be the next 1st time titlist this year?

So it was David Goffin in Kitzbühel...

Of course hindsight is 20/20, but considering his streak of victories and rising confidence in the challengers, it was not altogether unexpected.

I believe his maiden tournament victory came in his 38th match win on the ATP main tour.

Respectfully,
masterclass
