Re: Philipp Petzschner
Unfortunately yes, his wrist injury is pretty serious. Rest and rehab is what is required to prevent surgery. He's usually more focused on grass anyway than clay, so it's best for him to take the time required to get himself 100%. He's been injury-prone in the past so he doesn't want to complicate matters by playing on an injury.
Before having to stop play due to his wrist, Philipp had a 3-7 singles record and 6-6 doubles record on the season. He made the finals with Melzer in Brisbane in doubles and in singles won a match in Brisbane, Australian Open and Memphis. His last tournament was Delray Beach a little over a month ago, losing in 6-4 4-6 1-6 to Roddick and struggling with his wrist in the third set of that match. Hopefully whenever he can return, he'll be 100% and able to give his best to make up for lost time this year.
