C'mon now MDS, move along now. You had youthful dreams once too remember? Let it play out.

Instead they start making early excuses about why they might lose, or show an inferiority complex regarding their current level, or just play as if they lack the confidence to win matches against even the weakest of opposition.

You get the feeling if they just narrowed down their hopes and expectations and focused on being confident and pumped up about their next match instead, they would have a lot more success by the time they end their tennis career. Could be the difference between a career and a "career".

Of course, I'm just talking in general. Nobody in this particular thread should change to better their performance levels.. ever.
that's hardly me. I go on court knowing strengths and weaknesses and look to improve daily. If I lose I lose. But I leave knowing what to work on next. Yes I want to be one of the best ever, but lets focus on woodfield first round this weekend first.

also I enjoy a fun hopefulness towards club play and joking about the future, but the issue becomes if you waste a ton of years being naive and planning for huge success, then it just looks sad.
riddle me this: which is more sad, the guy dedicating his life to something he believes in, or the clown who writes essays why he can't do it?

I'd say the guy who writes essays on why he can do it but in reality doesn't even come close probably trumps both on the sadness card.

At least Johnny Groove and GOAT have more slams than Dull and Murray combined.

OK, everyone said his mind about JG's dream, he won't exactly stop because some random anonymous person thinks it's the right thing to do, so just blindly hate on him for no further reason is wrong imho.

I said i'm sure he won't make it, many others were even more specific, he gets it, move on and either support him or stay away.

no?

Johnny another small question?is this sad?
A guy who says it's his dream to be a top player but does nothing really to achieve that dream but keeps posting on a tennis forum saying how he is gonna achieve all that.
A guy who is stubborn or more probably foolish enough to think that things he does are enough and try nothing to improve himself but at same time posts on a tennis forum saying how is gonna improve and then go on and lose to a player who never even played a recorded match in circuit.then this guy consoles himself calling his opponent a talented shotmaker
A guy who constantly says history is gonna absolve him where in reality it's gonna dissolve him
My opinion is : it's not sad ,no way.i find it absolutely funny . Just levels funny.
Just the sole reason I joined on this forum so that I can post in this thread.

no?
Actually no.he just wants to live his dream here in a tennis forum ,a dream he can't achieve in real life and for which he is not ready to take any effort contrary to what he says (refusal to seek expert advice, good sparring partners for example)
So this thread is more or less a fanfiction , or bluntly trolling.so the responses are natural.

We all know this HBK, no one here believes Johnny will ever score a point in a futures and thats the thing here going on, even if he has only 0,01 of chances to make it we will still try to believe he has at least 10%.
I am perfectly fine with Johnny Groove wanting to live a dream in this forum specially because life's reality is too tough so its cool to dream a little beyond of whats really achievable.

And I love a troll thread.
