Oh Julien... Heartbreaking result for him, losing 2-6,7-5,6-4 in the KL final.

He played a fantastic first two sets - taking Sousa to at least 30 on just about every service game in the 2nd set - and had a match point at 5-4, but Sousa hit an unbelievable passing shot and went onto hold. Sousa broke for 6-5 and comfortably served for the set.

Julien had 2 poor games at the start of the the 3rd - with Sousa now flying - and went down 2-0. All credit to JB, he came back really strong when he could have folded completely, and the 3rd set was fantastic, with some great tennis from both players. They both faced BP's on their service games - but Sousa held onto an epic 8th game, which lasted over 10 minutes, saving 3 break points. Sousa saved one with a good serve, but Julien missed two with errors.

Julien had one more break point in the final game but couldn't convert. He saved a MP with some gutsy play, but Sousa won with his second.

One of those matches where you didn't want either player to lose after how hard they both fought, but today was not meant to be for Julien. He's shown some great play this week though, and hadn't lost a set before today.

Fantastic crowd and atmosphere in KL - lots of vocal support for both players and a very appreciative audience. Great match to watch but oh so sad for Julien.

I hope he gets another chance to win a title.

It was great tennis from both and very entertaining, but as a long time fan I really didn't want entertainment, I wanted Benny to finally win. He so deserves it and his face at the end made me so sad.
Group hug for Benny

Quote:

Pourtant, je me sentais fort.

Tough loss in the first round of the USO to Paire.
BTW, no posts in his thread in a year?

^^^ Aww Julien. That is so sad. But at least Europe winning the Ryder Cup today made him happy.

Julien
I really thought he could finally win his first title when I saw he had a break in the first set. I'm so sad for him.
