Blake played fantastically and he has a shot at going deep if he carries on playing like this. Tursunov is beatable, much more so than Janowicz. Blake can do it.

well , you are a dull tard , for you the tennis born with dull it seems.
He beat Nadal a few times when Rafa was 19/20 and still mostly a claycourter. After that Nadal won 4 straight even though every match they played was on hardcourt.

Blake is very much like Gonzalez was the more I think about it. Both had solid rally backhands and they could "lull" you in off that side and then as soon as they get a forehand, bam, complete change of pace.

i don't think they have much similarities. Gonzo was well known for perhaps one of the biggest FHs on tour, while James is more known for his awesome BH.

Gonzo was a solid clay performer, James has always been a typical American hard courts player.

James is a very decent volleyer, Fernando not so much, etc.

They're just two different players part of a beautiful era in this sport.

James is certainly not known more for his backhand. No chance!

Congrats Blake.

One of the very few surfaces left where such a brand of tennis can be played. Open your eyes ATP, ffs!!!

Strong era this one where the biggest talent under 24 (according to MTF) is beaten by a 33 year old far from his best.

That is why I am fan.

This.

Clownowicz basically had a fluke at the Paris Masters and a cakewalk draw at Wimbledon and some people seriously think that he is a genuine top 20 player.

Love how the JJ haters are out in force... acting like one loss makes him shit. If we used that logic every top 20 player would be shit because all have shock defeats. You are not shit if you reach world number 14.

'GSMnadal' at it again. Let's not pretend that Nadal wasn't in good form coming into the US Open in 2005. He won Canada defeating men playing good tennis like Grosjean (who had troubled Nadal at Roland Garros), Moya (prime or not, it was a good match between the two), Puerta, Mathieu (who was absolutely rattling the ball) and Agassi (wasn't moving too well which is a nightmare against Nadal, however his ball striking was causing Nadal all sorts of problems). It took a fearless Berdych (not the one who we see today) to edge Nadal out in Cincinnati in a third set breaker.

It's also convenient of you to ignore Blake's circumstances during that period. In 2004 he had all sorts of problems including a neck break in a training session with Ginepri, then his father died, then he suffered shingles. He was on and off for quite a while and hadn't much form coming into the US Open as far as ATP activity goes. People thought he was done by this point. in 2002 he was getting a lot of hype and it was pretty much over before any of this had even occurred.

The fact is that even a past it Blake was taking Nadal to 3 sets every time they met. Blake causes Nadal problems and that's all there is to it.
