Default Is Bob Bryan seriously injured?

I could understand why they pulled out of Atlanta. Four straight weeks of play seemed too much, but to pull out of Washington too?

Despite the fact that they are aiming for a historic achievement, there doesn't seem to be any information about this, other than Bob's shoulder being the reason.

All I have heard or read has just said a shoulder injury. Which does kind of worry me because generally more information is given out about an injury.

They might just be worried about playing too much before the Open and using this as an excuse since they were scheduled for the events months ago (they were supposed to play Barcelona and pulled out because of a supposed injury), although it seems stupid to break their normal routine and only play the Masters.

It's really strange that there has been no further details about how it happened and what exactly is wrong.

With all this testing stuff going on, we are all going to wonder about withdrawals now,

Maybe he has had a nagging injury, not withdrawal worthy but just trying to careful with it.

Is it really? I'm used to seeing merely a reference to an ankle/knee/hip/whatever injury, but no more detail than that, or maybe that's just what the media prints. Does chapter and verse get given elsewhere?

Wayne said in DC that twins are tired from 13 weeks in Europe but will be ready for Montreal.

I hope not, I want to see the twins heartbroken after they fail to win the CYGS.

So why didn't they just say that instead of claiming a shoulder injury?

Are they obligated to play in the events that they had scheduled and have to say it's because of an injury to pull out?

They are 32. Even though it is doubles, I highly doubt their bodies want to play agressive tennis 24/7.

Plus the only thing they give a shit about is US Open.

* Slams Do Not Exist!

Lenders: One thing people need to understand about this so-called weak era is that it was 'weak' for Federer on HC and grass and for Nadal on clay (Federer on clay too Nadal apart) because they were so much better than anyone else, for any outsider the era couldn't possibly be any harder, during 5+ years you had to either beat the best grass/HC player ever or the best clay player ever in every single Slam just to get 1 Slam title.

Actually, they turned 35 in April.

And I get that they only really care about the U.S. Open, but I just don't get why they (and others) have to claim injury to get out of tournaments when they are fatigued. I don't think players are obligated to play any event they don't want to, unless they signed a contact to play or something.

And they almost always play more events than just the Masters, so it just seems weird to change their routine. That's why I was wondering if he had actually suffered a serious injury.

You have to have a genuine reason to withdraw if you have already confirmed and are on the entry list, else you have to pay a fine. Rules are more strict for top players. Bryans were on the entry list in both Atlanta and Washington.

Not exactly the same context, but it is quite similar to what I mentioned here. Too lazy to look up the exact thing in the rulebook.

Oh ok, that makes sense then. It seems kind of ridiculous that players make commitments so early in the season then.

They already have a non-calendar year golden slam, I think they'll be disappointed but I doubt it will be a huge disaster for them when they already have all four in a row plus the gold medal.
