I've asked you a question: Are you really trying to deny money was an issue in this case?

no participation under 2mil Roger

these bureaucrats need to learn to pay for their mistakes.

they want your business out in the media and try to make you look bad - OK, 2mil and then tank in first round.

oh boy how i'd love to see that, would be perfect

The good thing of threads like this, is that the haters embarass themselves like little bitches with their talking-without-knowing

They shouldn't have gone to the media. It's bad for their image, washing their laundry in public. Notice Fed doesn't respond publicly to these kind of stuff. Like he did with the prize money saga. Yelling out in public, doesn't make you right.

Brennwald has always been an arse, reckon Fed'll play anyway though. A Fed/Nadal final with Fed winning in Basel to leave the whole rivalry a little more in perspective would be great. The crowd would carry Fed IMO since there's a much bigger focus on his Rafa rivalry than say, Delpo last year.

Could all go either way lol, hope tennis wins out in the end though and not greed from any quarter.

Are you suggesting that the Swiss are mindlessly nationalistic or just that they're ridiculously narrow-minded when it comes to appreciating different styles of tennis?

And does anybody have a legit news outlet link showing that Federer wants to buy the tournament with Brennwald objecting?

Isn't that a very generous thing to do ? Why is the tournament still moaning and b1tching about this ?
Why are the people still assuming Fed refused their offer because it wasn't enough money ?
Also...why did Federer turn down the 1st offer because it was not enough and didn't reply to the 2nd offer but then strangely plays Basel without any fee ? This one puzzles me.

Yeah, what we've heard so far through the press from Fed and Brennwald and on the situation somehow makes no sense. There must be more to it and we don't know the details of the negotiations.

I honesty think Roger is worth every penny he's asking.

I also think he should be less demanding with his home tournament.

But some people in this thread are right, this is not about the money, it's something else and my (little) money is on Roger to win this dispute, no matter what it is...

If both are confirmed to play, Federer will need to play in his 2012 form pre-USO and Nadal in his "Hey, I can play Indoors" 2010 WTF to get to the final.
I hope Fed can win another Basel, of course, but playing like this, he'd be lucky if he reaches the final.

Oh well, last year he played pretty bad and almost won the tournament, ha.
