Thanks Duong, and Guichard.

I had thought it was Nice that's making the numbers different, but I counted Nice and so did you, so it's not Nice. I think maybe Olympics for Simon. I had his 70 pts from Olympics, but if I replaced that 70 with a 45, then I got your number (1690). Olympics pts do count though, do they?

I got Almagro's pt aligned, thanks for the DC explanation. Now I have Tommy's pt at 2125 as compared to your 2119, a 6 pts different which is pretty odd. The fact that your pts ended at not a 5 or 0, it seems I'm missing sth. Anyway, I'll try figuring out what is wrong with my numbers. Thanks for the help.

These are just small discrepancy which shouldn't affect the overall much. But for the sake of calculation, it's always annoying that some numbers aren't aligned. So I just need to figure that out.

Yes, four weeks to be precise.

As on now - including this week - Murray has been ranked thus:

2: 5 weeks
3: 58 weeks
4: 159 weeks (record)
5: 17 weeks

...since 8/9-08, when he first breached the top-5. 239 straight weeks in top-5 is quite good historically speaking, but of course - at present it is only the 4th best stretch. In 22 weeks, barring some unforeseen disaster, four out of the top-5 will have remained there for at least five full years.

Default Re: The Live ATP Rankings Thread

I know most people here don't follow doubles ranking, but hopefully someone can answer my question.

In Horia Tecau's ranking, only 17 tournaments have been counted. Further, he was on the entry list in both IW and Miami(withdrew because of injury), but was not given a zero pointer for either of them. I probably have not understood the rules for withdrawals. According to my understanding, he should have got a zero pointer at minimum for IW as he withdrew late(his partner, Mirnyi, was forced to withdraw too and an alternate team was put in their place).

Quote:
The ATP Doubles Rankings is based on calculating, for each player, his total points
from his best 18 results from all eligible tournaments, including the Barclays ATP
World Tour Finals (Doubles) played in the Ranking period. For entry purposes there
are no mandatory events, however, once a player is accepted in the main draw of
any of the four (4) Grand Slams or the (8) ATP World Tour Masters 1000, as a direct
acceptance,a qualifier or a lucky loser or having accepted a wild card, his result in
one of these twelve (12) tournaments, shall count for his ranking, whether or not he
participates.

Well, Pratik, there are two types of withdrawals. Before the Main Draw is made and after it. If Tecau would have withdrawn after the main draw would have been made, he would have received a penalty and been replaced by a lucky loser. Before the main draw is made, Tecau is not officially accepted on it, and being forced to play after registering for that tournament would constitute making it mandatory. Mandatories are entry list locked, making any player who is on main draw first entry list forced to play. This does not apply in doubles, where players are only forced to play once they are in the already drawn Main Draw, either as DA, Q or WC.

Thanks Slasher.
Mirnyi/Tecau withdrew after the MD was made in IW, and were replaced by a alternate team(no Qualifiers, so no LL). In fact, so did Melzer/Paes. Thus, there were only 6 seeded teams(instead of 8) in IW. But, none of the four players got a zero pointer.

Main Draw

Tecau
Mirnyi
Melzer
Paes

Any idea about the 17 tournaments?

I watched Tecau's ranking last week, and I'm not sure but I saw a 0 point penalty. Looking now, I am shocked it's not there. Maybe, this is the same crap rule as the ATP 500 penalty rule, which can be contested after a few weeks and taken out if the reason is good enough.

i have a question: for THIEM (#267 right now): does he still gets 18 future points (for his tournament win) yesterday added next week, or are they already included?

They will be added next Monday into his official rankings bringing him to 171 points (he has 153 now) and 267 (his official ranking is 292). The live system already counts them in for next Monday.

Well, this was the second Monday in a row with a new case for me in the rankings.

Last Monday, Christian Harrison was the first player since I'm doing this who retired from a mandatory tournament after receiving a Wild Card, which according to the rulebook makes the tournament count as a mandatory 0 in his rankings.

This Monday, Lukas Rosol was the first player who gained points in the QF of the Davis Cup which cumulated with the R1 points gained without wining any match.
