"On 12 March 2013 in the State Duma, there was a meeting of staff and students of the Presidential Academy with famous Russian tennis player, honored master of sports of Russia, State Duma and the Deputy Minister of Sport and Youth Policy of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Marat Safin.
Marat also shared his views on life, recited a Latin saying faber est suae quisque fortunae (every person is the architect of his own fate). 'If we do nothing we will not do, no one can help us. Whoever our parents, no matter how talented they are, - if we ourselves do not - nothing happens. Yes, parents can help. But if you do something for you then do not be ashamed in front of their children - that is the question! Success - it is always the result of your efforts. Come and do it!'
The meeting was held in a warm and relaxed atmosphere, the students took an active part in the discussions, listened attentively and with interest, for a long time they did not let the guest of honor go."
Thanks Monkey...love the third photo. This is a 007 shot, looks like Marat would make a great James Bond. He certainly has the physical beauty and a great personality. I won't mention his gun!!!
Hockey match between SKA St. Petersburg and Dynamo Moscow, Luzhniki Small Sports Arena, Moscow, 01 April 2013.
Either an April fools or a massive fail by Championat, passing off Marat as Ilya Kovalchuk. Also via Sport-Express and Life News.
EDIT: It's been fixed now (presumably by an ex-employee ).
