Well, if thats the only thing you see then ok, I see huge 1st serve, with massive power off the both wings, Gulbis have the same weapons, just that his forehand is vulnerable, but it still has the the same firepower.

His mind is a bit better, after blowing the first set against Seppi, old Gulbis would've lost the second set 6-0, but this time he pulled it back and actually won the match.

No worries, I understand for some people it's hard to accept Gulbis playing top 20 tennis.

Those 0.5% must be noletrolls who claim this is a strong era.

Gulbis has periods when he's hot.

Late May to July 2008
February to May 2010
February 2013 to present (Rotterdam onwards).

It's just how it is with him. Who knows how long this will last. Some are really short like his L.A. title run in 2011 and some are longer like early-mid 2010.

From what I saw today good serving and dumb opponents who aren't pressuring that forehand enough.

It's not like it's a new change either. That's something that's been in progress since before last Wimbledon - they said they were trying to ensure he got spin on it for control. Previously he would often blast it, but forget the spin sometimes and hit it long.

It may look bizarre, but for Gulbis it's an improvement.

he definitely is more determined
which is great, he's one of the most talented players around and one of the few who consistancy can give the viewer "wow" shots
in the past you'd notice Gulbis looking like he didn't give a shit and almost found it amusing losing to players much worse than him
like literally in every match if there was a bubble around his head
it bused to be this thought process
"I'm way too good to be letting this match be close"
and then he would get frustrated and lose his cool and error error error
he still has the Gublis anger and quirks but definitely seems a bit more collected and determined
love Nadal but would be fun to see Ernest extend the streak too

agreed.
a great stroke doesn't always look exactly right nor do you necessarily understand by some quick clips why a player has changed it up and or decided to hit it in an unorthodox manner
I think him adjusting his forehand and other strokes is exciting, show he cares and is willing to try new things

He's a SAG member. A man of many faces. He was an impish mama's boy, then he became Mr. Hyde. Now, he's Dr. Jekyll.
