Re: Your expectations for Marin in 2013
Draw in Memphis, most likely opponents:
R1: Dodig
R2: Melzer
QF: Nishikori
SF: Dolgopolov
Not an easy R1 but hope Marin can win.

My guess is he's trying to improve his game at the net.

Re: Your expectations for Marin in 2013
As Gasquet lost - if Marin wins the Memphis title he'll be back in top 10.

Re: Your expectations for Marin in 2013
God, I hope Marin can pull a win here today. Kei is out of form but Marin seems like he's crumbling under pressure and is playing too safe, with inside out forehand instead of blasting.

Re: Your expectations for Marin in 2013
Pressure just eated him. Like always. We can't do nothing about it. It's just Cilic. Take or leave.
Hope Borna will have normal head, tennis wise.

My guess would be b/c he's tired and wants to prepare for the masters. He played 10hr in Davis cup then Zagreb then came to US. He needs to clear his head a bit and be fresh.

Re: Your expectations for Marin in 2013
So Almagro lost, he is number 11th.
If he wants to be top 10 he will need to win 55 points less than Tipsarevic and 80 points more than Gasuet until RG finished (assuming they will stay where they are).
By points, he will need to have approximately 2900 points. For that goal he needs to make 90 points per Master (3rd or 4 round on American's) and quaters at RG. Or quaters at two Masters and 1/8 at other tournaments.
But ranking isn't important, just results.
He will need to stop thinking about ranking, too.

Re: Your expectations for Marin in 2013
I agree that he seemed to have calculated too much in Memphis, it was visible in his game...
We can play around and calculate rankings, he isn't supposed to do that. Just play and train hard and top 10 will come, and pretty soon.

Re: Your expectations for Marin in 2013
Marin's singles ranking since the start of the year:
31.12.2012 ... 15
07.01.2013 ... 14
14.01.2013 ... 14
28.01.2013 ... 13
04.02.2013 ... 12
11.02.2013 ... 12
18.02.2013 ... 12
25.02.2013 ... 11
At this rate, he'll be #1 in 3-4 months

Yeah, that was my thoughts.
Marin is number #11 at Entry List and number #10 at Race list. Could be number #4 at Race. He would be that placed with quaters at AO and title in Memphis. But loosing to Seppi (#23, #18 after the tournament) and Nishikori (#22, #16 after) it's not something you can't expect of number #12/13.

Re: Your expectations for Marin in 2013
Next two masters are extremely important for Marin, he needs to make a good run at least on one of them.

Only RG is important. If he could make quaters there it would be great. If he stays in top 12 then he can beat Berdych and Tsonga in 1/8. If he could play his best tennis he could beat Murray, too (he is not that good on clay). But quaters would be great.
