Sometimes I wonder if people here could ever watch tennis in the 70s and 80s, with real pushers like Borg, Vilas, and Wilander.

A lot of names being thrown into the mix. Guess it's time for a poll.

It all depends on the match-up I think. Simon-Monfils might be the worst combination ever followed by Murray-Monfils, When Simon plays Federer theres an interesting contrast and it becomes somehow a watchable match.

Del Potro should be on the list too, his body language between points helps to the cause apart from his one dimensional game...

Actually it's the opposite, Monfils is annoying, but awesome to watch.. fun tennis everytime he steps on the court (even if he is playing some no talent journeyman).

Personally, the serve bots are the most unwatchable.. Isner, Raonic, Querrey, Karlovic, Rosol, Andujar, Janowicz etc. not because I don't like them as players.. but because I just don't like to watch them play.. always 6-4 sets or tiebreak sets, win or lose, it's plain boring to just watch aces and ground stroke failure.

I also dislike brute hitters like Berdych and Del Potro for the same reason... preferring more agile players like Tipsarevic, Dolgopolov and Hewitt

pushers like Simon can be fun on the other hand, for the amount of balls they put in the court .

Any guy with a signature groundstroke (ie fh or bh) can't be considered unwatchable either ,given they can come up with some epic shots.

Also.. clay court pushers like Ramos can be boring too.

Simon-Monfils was an epic trainwreck that I appreciated for how much of a trainwreck it was

I agree, Gilles gets too much flack.. is he a favorite? no.. but he isn't bad to watch or that bad of a guy, or that bad of a player.. he's a poor man's counterpuncher and he does what he does to the best of his ability.

Not the biggest guy.. and how many pros are as fit as Djoker/Nadal/Murray/Fed.. ? not many so to rag on Simon for that is ridiculous given he went to the hospital after that match and didn't do well in prep before.

If you're really knocking Simon because of his ability to recover after long matches then you have no clue about him or the game of tennis.

Second, he has one of the best fighters in tennis. People take him yelling at himself as having a bad attitude but it just is how he releases tension. I don't think I've ever seen him give up in a match in his entire career unless he had a very serious injury. You won't see any crap retirements or giving up after being down a break from Gilles.

Karlovic is someone I forgot and threw into the poll at the last second. He is leading the poll with Pusher Simone and is utterly unwatchable too.

This hate thread
If it was targeting Fed, it would be closed by now or moved to off topic.

...
Every player except Djokovic and Nadal tires after a 5set marathon. Those two are exceptions for one reason or another, but to hate on Simon for being tired after a marathon match? Ridiculous.

Out of the guys in the poll, Ferrer hands down. You could program a robot to play exactly like Ferrer, his game has zero inventiveness, just the same boring patterns repeated ad nauseum - run everything down, try to retrieve it deep, rinse and repeat -, ball machine

The way you put it it's actually quite true. But I don't find him nearly as unwatachable as Simon, Karlovic, or Isner for some reason.
