Re: Rotterdam R2: Del Potro def. Gulbis 7-6(5) 6-3
If Gulbis was the best player, he would of won... the best player in a match doesn't gift a match away.
DelPo far from his best but it'll do. Nieminen should be much more straightforward for Juan if he plays better Tennis.

Re: Rotterdam R2: Del Potro def. Gulbis 7-6(5) 6-3
Very good match. Excellent win for Delpo, it was way harder than the scoreline suggests, he's playing well. I don't suppose Niemenen will pose much of a threat tomorrow (although you never know), but SF vs Baghdatis or Dimitrov should definitely be tough.
As for Gulbis, if he was fully committed to tennis he'd be doing much better, he's actually the more talented player of the two imo, but alas the more professional player won today.

Re: Rotterdam R2: Del Potro def. Gulbis 7-6(5) 6-3
Gulbis could have won the first
Incredible job breaking himself in the second
Gulbis is so talented but no work ethic and awful under pressure

But it's okay, because the top 10 playing more is good for the game!

Gulbis outplayed Del Potro and Del Potro outserved Gulbis, which kept him in the match. Tennis is often about a couple of points, which can cause the best player to lose. Gulbis was the better player for the majority of the match, hence the best player lost today.

Re: Rotterdam R2: Del Potro def. Gulbis 7-6(5) 6-3
Too bad Gulbis didn't win that TB, he came really close. Second set was pretty much just like the 1st until 3-4 when Ernie got broken. Still, good to see him playing well again and not switching off mentally after the 1st set.

Fair analogy I guess. I suppose Tennis level wise he was.

What a nice move from Gulbis to gift the match to Del Potro. All terrific players like Gulbis should do that more often.
Or maybe Gulbis is simply not that good.
