yes seedings definitely add a lot of inertia to the rankings, and I can't even imagine if there had been a 2-year ranking system

Imo, for top-50 players, the seeding matter is much more important than the question of getting points in more or less easy tournaments, as people speak of in the "vulturing" concept.

The 0s in blue are for Davis Cup. Some players are dropping points gained in DC last year (some of them are 0s). The ones in green are points gained for next week in an ATP 500 (Rotterdam).

The week has not been changed yet.

This should be an interesting debate.

It appears ATP is adding Mexico F2 as 10K tournament, when the tournament was a 15K. Does anyone know something more than the official information, or is ATP making a mistake when counting the points from Mexico F2?

probably, or less likely it was a mistake on the ITF's website but for sure there can be mistakes by the ATP when they received documents : they don't do something automatic from the ITF's website as you do, they have other sources

Well, I didn't see ITF making any mistake regarding the class of a Futures event. I've seen ATP making this mistake plenty of times, but they have always fixed it before the "effect" Monday.

Because once the 300 points from Rotterdam last year falls off, the 250 currently non-countable points from Vienna will count instead.

Why do you have the players already drop their points and ranking for that week, before they have a chance to defend them, it seems like it would be more work that way?

Because this is what Live means. The points will drop no matter what, yet they won't be defended regardless.

"live rankings" means the rankings for next monday if everybody lost every match this week from now on : of course it's not a complete ranking but at least every player starts from the same point, everything depends only on their results this week : at the moment Del Potro or Simon can win the tournament just like Federer, nobody knows, there's no necessity that it's always the same player winning the same tournament, what you call "defending" is not a given at all

It's similar to the Race actually, which does exactly the same for the rankings after Paris-Bercy tournament.

I am really starting to not get you at all. What are you following? Are you testing my responses? Are you just trying to see how I respond to everything?

This system computes the next Monday's rankings before next Monday. As simple as that. The next Monday, DelPo and Fed would have dropped their points, and if they lose tomorrow, they would have failed to defend last year's points.

It is live because it allows you to see how next Monday's rankings would look like after each match is played. Since next Monday Delpo won't have last year's points in his rankings, it's logical to take them out of the calculation.
