never understood logic of supporting someone just because he/she/them are my countrymen. ofc i support my countrymen in sports just Cilic is so huge mug that even if he is my relative it wouldn't help. and for others, Karlovic has always been one of my favorite players, the same like Ljubo, not to talk about Goran

don't know what is so ridiculous in that post . don't know why somebody would need to support someone just because he is his countrymen, specially in sports like tennis when your are playing for yourself more than in some other sports. ofc you would support your teams on big competitions which are every few years but why to support one mug who is disgracing your flag .

Well, it's already been said how that sounded a bit incoherent to say the least I don't blindly support every italian athlete out there in the whole world, clearly, since it can happen than some of them (many) can be pricks or douchebags as persons. of course, there are still many valid reasons to not support every athlete that it's one's countryman (even not liking his/her/their playstyle could be a reason, though not for HATING) but of course it makes sense to support the majority of them since that clearly contributes to the growth of the sport's popularity in the country, and it's nice to see them succeed even in individual sports because it only brings positives towards the state of said discipline where you live + the patriotic aspect can't be denied. it's quite obvious

Now that's quite a big change right there! and I think you nailed it with this:

IMO it's the case of unfulfilled expectations. He started his career well, people got their hopes up, he was even making semi-runs at slams which was rarely the case with Ljubicic, and Ljubo got to #3.
For a long time now he didn't make a significant result on the tour, he fell in a black hole, no confidence, spraying errors all over the place and people just gave up on him and started hating because he's a disappointment.

You're right ! The only reason why i don't hate him is cause he got a PERFECT style which kinda puts him in my "neutral" graph ... and yeah ... Faith in Tennis is restored a little with player like him
