Re: Beautiful places & moments around the world
This definitely looks photoshopped but actually it's a life-size photographic work based on the original building in Paris, printed on canvas, enhanced with bas-relief. It shelters the renovation of an Hausmannian building during the year 2007. The project is named"39GeorgeV" is an urban surrealism manifesto

zebroid
The zebroid (cross between a zebra and any other equine) showed in the picture above, Eclyse, is a very unusual one, because of her coloring. With her über distinct makings, it's really hard not to think she's a Photoshop mock-up

Re: Beautiful places & moments around the world
Tardigrade
Before you freak out at the picture, let me make this statement first: the Tardigrade is the most incredible animal in the entire world. If you can't get past the creepy sucker-like face, the tardigrade is also called a water bear.
Why is it awesome? The tardigrade is an extremophile. Extremophiles, as the name suggests, live in extreme environments in terms of temperature, pressure, toxicity and radiation. Also, the tardigrade is the most extreme of the extremophiles
i feel the need to throw up...

Re: Beautiful places & moments around the world
THE DOUBLE-RAINBOW
Since rainbows are created by light traveling through water droplets, it is possible for two or more rainbows to appear at once. When a rainbow in the sky is above a large, calm body of water, the water will sometimes reflect the bow; this is called a reflected rainbow. Then there’s a reflection rainbow, which is when light reflects off a large, calm body of water before reflecting off the raindrops, creating an additional rainbow arc in the sky.

Re: Beautiful places & moments around the world
GIANT HAIL
Hail is made during a thunderstorm. A strong updraft is required to keep the hail in place as water droplets freeze into hard clumps of ice. When the hail gets too heavy, gravity pulls it down out of the updraft. The stronger the updraft, the bigger the hail can become, which sometimes causes hail as big as baseballs that can be very destructive and dangerous

Re: Beautiful places & moments around the world
BALL LIGHTNING
When you think of lightning, you typically think of the bright, forked line of electricity that flashes for a split-second in the sky during thunderstorms. Ball lightning, however, is a sphere of electricity that can be pea-sized or several meters in diameter. This form of lightning flies through the air in a zigzagging pattern. To this day, the cause of ball lightning is still disputed, but two things are certain: it’s quite dangerous and it looks very, very cool

UFO CLOUDS
Lenticular clouds, also known as UFO clouds, appear at high altitudes perpendicular to wind direction. They hover in the air, usually around mountains, and create interesting, disc-like shapes in the sky. Their round, flat and bizarre features are often confused for UFOs

WATERSPOUTS
Perhaps the opposite of a fire whirl is a waterspout. This happens when the powerful winds of a storm or tornado suck water from a large body of water up into the sky, creating liquid vortexes all across the water’s surface

Re: Beautiful places & moments around the world
The Plain of Jars, Lao
The Plain of Jars is one of the oldest archeological mysteries in Southeast Asia. Located on the plateau of Xieng Khouang, in the mountains of Indochina, there are about 90 different jars sites. Each site contains from 1 to 400 jars. It has been estimated that they were created 3,000 years ago, and are made of sandstone, limestone, granite, breccias and conglomerate, with the majority being made of sandstone. The tallest jar is about 9 ft. tall and all are made from their own individual slab of stone. At first glance they appear to be haphazardly placed, with some standing upright and others on their sides, pointing in different directions. Further studies have revealed that the jars are placed in positions that form the constellation patterns of the stars. There has been lots of speculation about the purpose of the jars – drinking glasses for a giant race, being used to collect rainwater, or as burial urns. Most of the jars are empty, but a few have been found with bodies or tools inside, or filled with miniature Buddha statues. Exploration is hard as the area is littered with unexploded bombs from the Secret War.

Re: Beautiful places & moments around the world
Machu Picchu, Peru
Machu Picchu stands 2,430 m above sea-level, in the middle of a tropical mountain forest, in an extraordinarily beautiful setting. It was probably the most amazing urban creation of the Inca Empire at its height; its giant walls, terraces and ramps seem as if they have been cut naturally in the continuous rock escarpments. The natural setting, on the eastern slopes of the Andes, encompasses the upper Amazon basin with its rich diversity of flora and fauna. [5]
The Incas started building the “estate” around AD 1400, but abandoned it as an official site for the Inca rulers a century later at the time of the Spanish Conquest. Although known locally, it was unknown to the outside world before being brought to international attention in 1911 by the American historian Hiram Bingham
