So the Top 4 players share the slams & they're lucky? Right.

Re: Were the 2012 GS winners the luckiest in the Open Era?
No, but even if they were the results were kind of justified anyway. Some say Nadal should have won the AO, but he won the French Open when Djokovic could have won it. And vice versa. Maybe Murray was lucky to have won the US Open but Federer was lucky to have won Wimbledon over Murray. IT really doesn't matter though.

No, they were the unluckiest. Hope it's clear now.

Djokovic got lucky in Australia indeed
Nadal would have won the Roland Garros match regardless, you say it's 'fortunate' that they stopped play, but you are aware that clay is not meant to be played on when constantly wet / drizzling conditions for over an hour. no umpire / tournament runners would NOT stop play at some point in that, regardless of match or tournament.
Federer - it is what is is, he probably would have won no matter what.
Murray - indeed lucked out. this is really the only instance where the result was probably dramatically affected by weather conditions and/or tournament decisions.

Winners of AO GS titles in most of the 70s and early 80s were.
Often the fields were weak with the top players; Borg, Connors and McEnroe absent.

It closed on 1-1 in the 3rd. Noone had dominated the first two sets, both could easily have gone either way.

Re: Were the 2012 GS winners the luckiest in the Open Era?
The 1970s early 80s AO winners are the 'luckiest'- their careers look better now because of how strong AO is now when back then it had a field equivalent to a 500 with no Borg, Mac, Connors etc.

The most lucky was Murray, because of the wind.

Re: Were the 2012 GS winners the luckiest in the Open Era?
I do not think a 7 time Wimbledon champ and a 7 time RG champ got lucky in winning those slams this year. Nadal went through Almagro, Ferrer and Djokovicto win RG and Federer went through Murray and Djokovic to win Wimbledon.
Djokovic has won AO 3 times, so I don't think any of those are luck.
Murray winning the USO is the only one that could be seen as lucky, but I still don't think it was. He was under a tremendous amount of pressure and came through and beat Novak.
