Israel doesn't have a bad team at all. In group 1 they will be one of the stronger nations.

Re: World Group 1st Round: Israel at France (February 1-3, 2013)
I understand Romania, GBR, Russia... but Sweden??? with Soderling virtually retired, Israel is much stronger than Sweden. They hardly have any singles players anymore. In fact, if Soderling is not back, I think Sweden is the prime candidate for relegation to group 2.
I would understand if you wrote Poland, Slovenia, Ukraine... If they are with full squads and in good form, they are much stronger than Israel.
But I agree that Israel's strength is its heart and spirit... a Davis cup overachiever in a big way, against the odds almost every time. However, delivering such a miracle against a team like France is a very tall order. Too much even for magicians like them.

with Youzhny and Davydenko in his current form? I don't think so. But Russia has been having some attitude problems in the last few years, and that's their drawback.
