Re: Riccardo Ghedin
Riccardin is 23 years old.
Best ranking so far 238.
Typical italian clay courter but with some good ability on fast courts. (beat Greul at AO qualies).
Definetely a surprise this qualifying, beating the likes of Crugnola, Kudryavtsev and Izzak van der Merwe (this one retired).
Probably not the hardest oppponets, but still.
Good luck and try to improve as always. v Gulbis round one.

Just show you how the average tennis fan knows nothing about tennis and is just a gloryhunter.

Re: Riccardo Ghedin
yep, he prefers faster surfaces
preview from his interview of 2006
"My first year as a pro was 2005. I couldn't manage to get my first point. I passed often the qualies beating players around 700/800 ATP, but once I got in main draw, because of the stress, I panicked and i always would lose..."

Re: Riccardo Ghedin
Well I suppose against a quality player like Gulbis, he done well not to embarasss himself by any means. His first grand slam event, and he will hope he can go for some more aswell as break into the top 200 by the end of the season.

Re: Riccardo Ghedin
Lets hop he does... great run to the final. Im surprised his ranking is still so low, but should rise quite a bit again after this tournament.
