the one on my avatar was sold for $8827 Nothing compared to all the millions, but who knows maybe I will get my hands on some of those eventually
I'm a coin dealer as well

That's not bad at all! Yes, all you have to do is find a previously unknown gold issue by Julius Caesar and you've done it. Or perhaps a rare Chinese coin. Those are setting new prize records all the time, I hear. Not my speciality, though. My most expensive Chinese coin I got for €4. I prefer European ones. My speciality is numbers, though. I'm putting together a collectioin of as many dates and denominations as possible. Only numbers. Which means I like coins such as 36 Grote from Bremen, 1/18˝ Thaler from Holstein-Schauenberg-Pinneberg and ˝ 3 Gulden from Friesland. I have all of those

If you want to see, I could show pictures of a few. Not all of them, though. I have too many. Most are really common. That will have to wait a bit, I'm off to bed very soon now.

very interesting field indeed, there are so many interesting denominations.

I believe they first started to put dates on coins in Europe in 15th/16th century. It means well before they started to use machines to struck coins.
German states especially minted tons of various coins I've just checked what first came in my hand, grabbed an album and here I'm looking now at a silver "1 marck danske" from 1563, silver 30 kopeks/2 zlote 1837, some polish coins etc. I have had many such weird denominations like 9 cavalli and what not, still have probably, I need to check it more thoroughly

Hey Mancunian, are you still up?
Tell me about Manchester, I spent some time in Manchester Business School for a course a few years ago.
