My argument is so obvious explaining it would make me feel I'm belittling you.

Well, at least in the weak first half of 2000s the second fidle like Safin, Hewitt, Roddick and Ferrero actually won slams and were world number one, unlike today's second fiddle of Ferrer, Tsonga and Berdych (just a joke, don't worry!)

Attention-seeking posts don't deserve one. And I disagree with the whole weak/strong era argument - Fed won 17 Slams, period.

I detected whining here.
If serve & volley can win the games these days - Stepanek would be multiple grand slam winner. But he is not.

“Does Djokovic resemble myself?” Agassi said. “No, he is even better. He defends really well, while I struggled more in that element of the game. Novak looks totally relaxed when defending, completely calm and the quality of his return is incredible. He is also extremely flexible in his game, which is facilitated by his ability to anticipate his rival’s moves. That is why I think he is a much more versatile player than I was and he is also much more athletic.”

Lol, this just confirms what all the rational people have been thinking up till now - Djokovic builds up his rivals, so his head can grow bigger whenever he defeats them.
The best thing about this is that I can say it without the danger of a badrep from Nole Fan .

Stepanek wouldn't win any Slams or come close to it in any era or conditions, all successful serve & volleyers over the years have had a much stronger serve, return, groundstrokes and movement than Stepanek (and Llodra).

Did Rafter have a strong serve?

Monaco being top 10 and Troicki almost being top 10 is an argument in favour of the lack of depth.
The field below 10 was better about eight years ago. We've had the likes of Bogomolov be seeded for slams recently.
