Begin to wonder weither our Filip would become another flop from Bolletieri Inc. (Too much work as a youngster) and join Arias Krickstein or (in a way) Haas in the "Could have been a far better player" flock.

Ive been saying this for about 18 months now. A friend of mine who is a sports physician said he believes Filip played way too much on clay when he first started playing, which put strain on his body, leading to injuries, and as a result, his development has been harmed. It's much worse for a player to be injured when they're younger, these are crucial, formative years. He's pretty much playing at the same experience level as players 2 years younger than him now, and at 20, that's a huge difference.

well clay is useful to get injured less than playing on hcs

plus he got injured on back-shoulder i think, so i dont think its clay the one to blame about it anyway!

IMO The one to blame is Bolletieri Academy that produces mostly players performing a couple of years and then struggling with recurring injuries.
There is something wrong with their programs in term of amount of work and search of flexibility and relaxation. Especially on very young players.

That's not true. Hard Courts cause impact injuries. Clay courts can damage muscles, and cause strain injuries, because players have to hit through the ball a lot harder to win the points, and run on court. Both type of courts can cause injury, but as far as I'm aware Filip's injuries haven't been impact injuries?

Great news, hope he can make it into MD. I would really like to see him perform and make my conclusions regarding his game at the moment. Esp. after recent drubbings at the hands of Vesely that left me scratching my head.

He has drawn Bautista Agut in the first round. Could have been worse I guess.

Looking good! Saw the game today, i´ve had my doubts about Fico, but hopefully he can stay healthy and be professional in his tennis and be an regular Challenger player soon.
