Partial true, but people from west, where is majority of consumers always easier identify themselves with people like Federer, Sampras, Beckham than people like Djokovic, Lendl, Davydenko, Safin or Klitchko.

“Does Djokovic resemble myself?” Agassi said. “No, he is even better. He defends really well, while I struggled more in that element of the game. Novak looks totally relaxed when defending, completely calm and the quality of his return is incredible. He is also extremely flexible in his game, which is facilitated by his ability to anticipate his rival’s moves. That is why I think he is a much more versatile player than I was and he is also much more athletic.”

On topic: no. He still Has a loooooong way to go before he is as globally known as Fed and Rafa are. And being from Serbia doesn't help. A lot of people around the world outside Europe don't even know Serbia is a country, while Spain for example... everyone knows.

It's true. Took me upwards of 15 minutes to locate Europe on a map, let alone Serbia...

The thing about endorsements though, i fear, is that you need to have that "look." Winning does help... but look at david beckham. I wouldn't necessarily call him a winner. You can't be butt-ugly and have tons of endorsements either. You don't have to have model looks, but you gotta have something that appeals to people, a clean look so to speak (tiger woods has that friendly smile, federer has the gentleman looks, nadal that wild thing with his hair and muscles, etc). Djokovic certainly has an appealing look (he is definitely not ugly, prolly better looking than most guys I see at university), and he has a great personality. Winning formula for endorsements IMO.

On a side note, endorsements are such an easy way to make money, it is quite ridiculous. Federer banks about 45 mill a year from endorsements alone. That is crazy

He can't locate Portugal either But he knows a word in Portuguese so he is forgiven.

Actually, my own experience is that a lot of people outside Europe either dont know where Portugal is or they never even heard of it.

He's a generally likeable character that would appeal to the masses, why not reach at least Rafa's level?
Though I must admit I've heard comments about him from non-tennis fans that he annoys them.Such thing I hadn't heard about Rafa and Roger, either about other big endorsement stars.

It probably doesn't help that his surname isn't easy to pronounce either. My best friend, who doesn't watch any tennis at all, referred to him as 'the guy with the weird surname'.

That said, in my opinion, he is theoretically more marketable than Nadal. 1) He speaks WAY better English; and 2) he's better looking.

True, my friends who do.not follow tennis often mean to ask me how he is doing but they always ask.me for his name, because they never seem to memorize it.

He might be theoretically more marketable. But Rafa Has been around for longer, Has won far more titles and is from Spain.

Nole would have to pull and incredible run in the next 2 or 3 years to become bigger than nadal.in terms.of endorsement. And even then I am not sure.

It's easy to understand really. If you go to a tournament and they are both practising at the same time, Nadal.is going to have a lot.more people watching him than Nole.

Nadal and Federer both provide their own unique image. Djokovic is somewhat generic and not as desirable to imitate.

Don't understand why people talk about him as if he were at the beginning of his career. He's number one since 2011, won Wimbledon, US Open. If these things didn't have an impact on his endorsements, what makes people think that things will change from now on?
The fact that he signed with IMG?

Care to explain about Roger and Rafa?

I agree that Nole provides generic image, though.
