makes for a wonderful, tv-framed escape from the european winter. sun, no hurricanes. compensates somewhat for the fact that we are forced to play indoor airdome tennis in real life...
my favorite slam (alongside uso), although i get to watch only the nigth matches (morning cet time).

with the uso being a close second, both of them easily outdistancing the european slams. wimbledon is the worst, by that time of the year i'm kinda fed up with tennis due to the back-to-back slams, plus every two years major football tournaments take center stage so i don't really care. oh, and grass sux. yeah wimby is pretty shite.

Here's how it's viewed: the slam that only Djokovic can win 3 years in a row

It was probably viewed as exclusive because since its inception in 1905 until 1976, with the exception of one year, either an Australian has won it or has been in the final. Add to this its lack of identity or uniqueness, remote location and odd timing at the end of year, so no one really bothered to take it seriously in the past. I believe it's gained greater relevancy in the Open Era once more recognised personalities such as Laver, Ashe, Rosewall and Connors started winning it. Positioning it at the start of the year also helped because a player had to win it to contend for the calendar grand slam.

It's my second favorite after the USO. Pretty much tied with RG, but has the slight edge.

There's something about it that makes it sort of perfect, as other players have stated: organization, weather, timing (right after the off season).

And let's not forget the crowd, we have to admit that the ozzies are the best slam crowd by miles.
