Probably still Nadal, but the draw could make an impact. Imagine if Nadal, Djokovic and Federer were in the same half?

Where's the ''other'' option?
Ferrer will rise.

Shame, since he'd definitely have beaten Soderling in the final, was only a few points away from a RG title. But that match made him improve his fitness, which proved crucial at USO so it was all good.

yup you're right, there were mitigating circumstances to that 2009 match so it doesn't really count as a choke

Everything depends on Nadal's SA swing appearance. Let's see those early signs

You would have thought of as a loony to do such a thing even 10 years ago. Alas, that's the reality of surface homogenisation.

no that's dominance........and 15 years ago I could have predicted who would Wimbledon...his name was Pete Sampras

Perhaps my statement was worded incorrectly.
Allow me to rectify;
Even 10 years ago you would have been mad to use the Australian open as an indicator of how the clay season would pan out.

Re: Who is the early favorite for Roland Garros 2013?
Depends on Nadal's run of results in the build up to RG really. If he strings a good set of results together, and wins a couple of MS's then he'll have a great opportunity. If not, they can play the surface on knee-friendly Styrofoam and it wouldn't make a difference, it's Djoko everytime.

Re: Who is the early favorite for Roland Garros 2013?
Even with the absence I'd put my money on Nadal before anyone else (presuming he actually plays).
After that: Nole. But I'd like to see Delpo win at RG at some point too.

Since I have no idea what condition Rafa will be in when he comes back, I'll go with Nole.
