Djokovic has 77 weeks guaranteed at number 1 already, until the end of Monte-Carlo.

yes, but the guy/girl said "Djokovic had given the title to his country", of course he was not alone and Tipsarevic won two crucial singles to Berdych and Stepanek in semi when Djokovic was "near to death", but it seems that some Serbians forgot it

Besides, I just want to inform youngsters about what Becker and Edberg did, which they seem to ignore.

Becker was also playing all doubles in Davis cup in 1988-1989.

But I also said that imo, Djokovic is better than them.

Yes. I believe that too. Not only for the weeks as number one and other titles mentioned before. Djokovic has still the potential to win other Grand Slam titles and will see what happens with Nadal but right now he looks like the favourite this year to win the French Open too.

equal number of slams means equal to my eyes. once he gets to number 7 slam then no argument from me.

Bullshit. In order to win his 1st slam Edberg had to beat legends like Lendl ( #1 then ) and Wilander.( # 3 ) Djoko beat mono - Fed and Tsonga. On way to his last slam title Edberg had to beat Lendl, Chang and Sampras. Djokovic beat Ferrer and Murka.

Edberg and Becker had to deal with few generations of different superstars with very different playing styles :Connors,Lendl, McEnroe,Wilander,Courier,Sampras,Agassi not to mention Chang, Stich, Cash,Ivanisevic.Plus - they had to beat each other , which was tough task itself.

Djokovic right now has only declining 31 y.o. Fed and not so brilliant Murray as serious opponents. Even Nadal is conveniently out of picture for some time now.To say this grinding between 2 quite boring baseliners is golden era of tennis is a huge mistake.Maybe Ferrer as permanent slam semifinalist is sign of Golden era also ?

This.

Hard not to see Djoker winning 3-4 more slams at least...the question will be moot pretty soon

about equal with them, but time is on his side...has about 2 more prime years in which he will probably surpass them clearly.
in any event, he is firmly there, among the greats.

They are pretty close but with what he'll achieve this year Nole will be clearly ahead.
(I don't get the answers saying he'd need a FO title. Both Edberg and Becker sucked on clay and Nole already has more versatile results surface wise).

Thnx,that's what I meant...

If he retires now,he has guaranteed at least 77 weeks which would, combined with his other stats put him ahead of Becker and Edberg...
