Re: Frank Dancevic
After missing three break points to go up *21, Frank can't hit the court. 61 00* PHM.
*Mathieu is playing great though...

Re: Frank Dancevic
Frank saves 3 MP's in 2nd set and wins the tiebreak7-6 (10-8) on a Mathieu DF. Think Mathieu is probably similar level to Spain's 2nd so maybe Frank has a shot in the 5th tie in DC. Really think he's our best chance (Vasek hasn't played competitively in a while & hasn't had good form for even longer).

Re: Frank Dancevic
He lost 8-6 in the 3rd set tiebreak, had one match point on Mathieu's serve.

Re: Frank Dancevic
Yeah, Frank played really well here. (Just lost a third set tie break, 8-6, or sth.) He was going for his shots and making most of them, was in great command of his serve, hitting with both forehand and backhand more winners or near winners than unforced errors (at least it seemed this way watching it), and was moving really well. I agree that he has a chance against the Spanish 2, should win a few sets and be competitive at least.

He made his first return at 44* and won the point, but followed it up with a double fault. Missed a backhand wide after a longish rally on his MP, and missed a forehand after a big serve/decent return on PHMs MP.
He would have gained so much confidence with a win here, but instead loses another match having had MP. Such a shame.

Vasek's proabably not going to play, but his form has been better than Frank's, and more recently.

What do you have against Frank? "Form" is how the player has been playing the past few weeks, Vasek hasn't played in a couple months, his "form" is none. Frank played really well here, almost beating PHM who is on the level of both Spanish players, his form is quite good which is better than none

Nothing really against Frank as a person, as a player though well...
Depends on how you view the word form, but we both know that if Vasek was fully healthy right now he most likely would be playing better than Frank, also V's the better player.

Re: Frank Dancevic
Frank does have a (tennis) past that makes you want to take any good form with a grain of salt, and maybe more. And this has been ever more the case where out of 5 set matches are involved...
From watching him against Mathieu, he does seem to be riding a mini-wave of confidence - he played really well for him both in making great shots and using solid tactics, especially with his serve.
Hopefully his form does give him a chance - I think he ll take a set in both matches, assuming he plays too singles rubbers, and could win one match. Peter, alternatively would have virtually no chance, nor Vasek, particularly given the nature of his recent absence.

Doesn't matter, you said Vasek had better form which is a totally crazy statement.
Matter of fact is Vasek hasn't played in months, his conditioning isn't where it would have been, he doesn't hgave any match practice. Frank would beat Vasek right now quite easily.
Did you by any chance see Marino's match at the AO? She had even played a few matches before that. That's what lack of playing time will do to you.
I know if Vasek was playing he'd more than likely be the better option, but that's not the case so why even make a statement like that?
If I was born with talent for tennis, got the proper training, and Vasek hadn't played a day of tennis in his life then I'd be a better option for the team than Vasek.
Like your statement the above statement is a total hypothetical which doesn't matter one bit.

Re: Frank Dancevic
Well what you said originally was his forms was better than Vasek's which isn't true.
then what you said was Vasek's would be playing better than Frank if he wasn't off for a couple months which is totally moot so no reason to say it

Re: Frank Dancevic
Dancevic is clearly in better form than Pospisil judging by how he has played guys like Levine, Brands, and PHM close over the last month (all guys who were/are playing well). Of course, that doesn't mean a damn thing as far as him winning an important DC match. But it looks like he's going to get the chance, there is no better option.

Re: Frank Dancevic
I don't get how Dancevic went from being a solid Davis Cup singles player for us and then turn to garbage. I just don't get it. Remember the time he won that critical fifth rubber against Saretta in Calgary? That win sent us to the world group and after when I saw that match, I really believed Dancy was the real deal.

Re: Frank Dancevic
Frank out of nowhere. Hopefully he can come back to earth and get a mental/emotional time out to gear up again for Sunday. I think he will be able to this time, in part because Ramos is little more (but a little more) than Challenger level on a fast hard court. Man, when he wins with his all-court game, it's a thing beauty. (Trouble is it is a punishing way to play physically - you can see how he has got injured so often.)
