David was five points away from becoming the big favorite to reach the final.

Yeah... Well, if Djokovic had been eliminated, and if Ferru had gone on to the final, we would have heard endless complaints about how he's just taken advantage of the fact that someone else had beaten Djokovic in his place, and so on...

I couldn't care less if he won a slam by only beating players outside of the top 20

Even though I dislike Wawrinka's personality (which is to say none to speak of), he really deserved to win that match. Nole played like a turd through much of that match, but Wawrinka did his usual mental choke job. They talked of Novak's "comeback," but it was really Wawrinka's "check out."

Unbelieveable, Ferrer won!!! Finally beaten Almagro. an hour and a half ago I turned the computer off in horror that he was going to lose. then turned it back on to find he had won the third set - classic Ferrer. first two sets he was just not there at all, his shoulders were hunched in a really strange way and he stopped 'grunting' altogether, never seen that before.

Wow! I'm not going to be able to sleep the rest of the night! Congratulations, David! I'm so happy for you! The commentators were annoying me to the point that I wanted to slap them. That was a nerve-wracking match with a great ending.

That was an amazing game. I'm glad he's thru. I was getting nervous, especially after the 2nd set. Nice to see him fight back. On to the semis!

I only watched the highlights, but, wow. How Almagro still sleeps at night after doing this for the 50th time against a top player puzzles me.

Well, to be honest, people are exaggerating a bit the importance of the Almagro choke, and underestimating the fact that he also had to play a different Ferrer in those moments.

Almagro was tense in these moments, no doubt, and his level slumped, but Ferru also produced some great tennis at the most important times, while he was playing awfully the rest of the time.

did anyone here watch the semifinal? He got a brutal thumping from Nole. There was absolutely nothing he could do. But the year just started! Making it to the semis here is still a great achievement. And come Monday he's ranked 4!

Djokovic played great, but Ferrer was bad, he played better against Djokovic in 2012 AO

He should have had much better return stats and not all those UEs. I think Djokovic lost less than 10 points on serve? Should never be that bad

I doubt Ferrer is the type of person to be sad after this crushing defeat. It will give him even more motivation to keep improving his game.

Roger Federer(on Nadull): "He's one-dimensional, he always plays the same way."

Worst I've seen him play in years. My only hope was Djokovic maintaining his level of the previous matches, but he upped his game tremendously.

I guess the TV in the US didn't want to see David getting beaten down because the guide said the AO was on, but it wasn't Poor David
