True.

Even when everyone was acknowledging the natural athleticism of Marion Jones, majority already believed that she was on juice, although she was never tested positive. She was only uncovered through jury trial.

The Russian says: "I feel tennis is clean, I do very much. For the amount of times that we get tested throughout the year and as random as they are, definitely."

Tennis great Martina Navratilova, who won 18 Grand Slam titles, accepts doping has taken place in tennis but not a large degree.

She says: "There is very stringent drug testing going on and it has to be done, because there obviously has been some cheating going on as a few people have been caught.

"But overall, I think we have a pretty clean sport. You know that Roger Federer or Rafael Nadal or any of those guys wouldn't do anything like what Lance Armstrong was doing.

Are they really that naive?

If this anonymous Spanish player is doping then what does it say about the other top 3 players in the world? Does this mean they have to be doping too, to be playing at a similar level? I mean if there had been a cyclist who matched Armstrong, surely that person would be under suspicion? I know we like to think of Federer as a god given talent but really nobody should be above suspicion here, given how lax the controls are.
I don't think Federer is above questioning.

It is terrifying indeed. But this is ATP/ITF undoing. IAAF/UCI/etc intentionally turned blind eye for years on their doped athletes, and they've been doing clean-up job ever since. We reap what we sow.

"The Spanish government has been accused of suppressing evidence linking footballers and tennis stars to a notorious doctor who will go on trial in Madrid next week and has been described as a “one-man Wal-Mart” of doping..."

What does that mean, "who will go on trial in Madrid..."??

There is so much more to Puerto than the public doesnt know. Contador was definitely involved in that whole scheme for sure.

wool over the eyes
It's been posted elsewhere on this forum the details of just why testing in tennis is far from stringent or frequent or effective.

So when assessing the likelihood of doping in the game, it's best to ignore soundbites from players and ex-players claiming tennis is clean because the testing is strict and there are hardly any tests found positive.

What, so they can do backdated testing ten years down the line? Don't think they do.

I read that on http://tennishasasteroidproblem.blogspot.com.ar/. I can't find the exact page, but I think Richard Ings, Stuart Miller's predecessor, said so.

The reason Armstrong's titles were not reallocated is because everyone cheats in the field. Armstrong is just high profile.

was mostly spanish high profile athletes.

Nadal, Iniesta (barca player), Paul Gasol (basketball), Alonso (F1) and probably some others I forgot. Not hanging them out or anything. maybe they were just clueless.

Even after Contador got a 2 year:

Also funny that Contador himself supported Armstrong before he himself got exposed.

I don't find anything wrong in supporting someone who has no evidence against. Athletes will just support other athletes for no obscure reasons other than solidarity.

I certainly do find something wrong with supporting someone whilst knowing FULLY what goes in professional cycling. Especially around that time.

Lance was doped and Cantadors times are very similar, coincidence? no..

He knew lance was doping, its a farce.
