In the 4th set Almagro led with a break four times overall (2:1, 4:3, 5:4, 6:5)!

Almugro
Should of won in 3 or 4 sets max.
This will take some time to get over and a good psychiatrist.
Meanwhile, just another hardworking day in the office for Ferrer.

I like Ferrer, but Almagro was clearly the better player in this match. I knew Nico would choke somehow, just wasnt expected that he would have so many chances to do it. It was very sad to see. Also no variety in the match. I barely see a drop shot in all 5 sets, and even volleys I barely see them.

Nah, he's not the better player if he doesn't have the resiliency and stamina to recover from the third set loss and go on to win it in 4 or 5 sets. Of course he strained something in the 4th. A poor mind-set makes one more prone to an injury. The tension he felt did it's damage.
Kudos to David for pulling this one out even with a sub par performance. But neither of these two will beat an in-form Djokovic in the semis. Ferrer has the stamina and Nico the skill set. Put them together and you'd have a two-headed victor.

You never lose while being the "better player". The better player is the one who wins... Simple as that.
When Ferrer did play well, he did a few very good volleys. He did some drop shots as well but usually it ended up in a huge fail so I think he gave up on dropshots... Also did a really beautiful lob on an important point.
And a great overhead smash... no wait that one was an epic fail
It's true that there wasn't much variety, but really, I didn't see much volleying in the Wawrinka/Djokovic match either. Maybe the stats would prove me wrong, I don't know.

Mugro was clearly better today but hey, Wawa was clearly better than Nole and look how that ended. Both have the talent for top 10 but both are too weak mentally to ever be regular members in there.

What a scoreline!! Almagro can be a beast on hardcourt if he plays well, don't understand how everyone says he's awful on the surface. You're all ignorant.
I knew Ferrer would win though. Into another hardcourt semi-final and gaining some points!! Nice one!! Keep it up, David!!

No, it's not! He was way better in the 1st 2 sets and was being better in the 3rd set too. Until having a 5-4 lead and served for it. He stopped putting 1st serves in and stopped attacking. Do you think this is related with tennis skills or tactics?
I know the mental part is a very important part of the score, and in that field Ferrer kicked Almagro's ass. But tennis wise, Almagro should beat him in 3 and also in 4.

He's right behind Andy and Roger when it comes to players I like, so no, I won't stop.
