He may have had a better career if he had amped up his juice dosage and reached later stages of non dirt slams. And it would have helped a lot if he had good looks, marketability and authorities who would cover up for him.

how can you be so dumb as to ask the question, give the answer in your OP posttttt, and then still think to ask again? Puerta had some talent but just watching the set he did take from Nadal in the RG final, he won it because of how hard he was hitting the ball, how much he was forcing the issue, but it was obviously from the steroids, he couldn't smash and be so strong and aggressive without them. also a long ban like had screws you for finding form again, he wasn't that young at the time, his reputation was ruined, not as though a lot of tournaments particularly would want him in their draw
but really Puerta's one great result even right at the time everyone thought he might be on something, you don't magically one tournament out of all of them hit the ball like that. bad question OP, it had everything to do with the drugs, Puerta has nice tough and a good feel for the ball but he was never of that caliber. the drugs gave him that little extra something that some other players naturally have from hard work or talent. he just was not that amazing at his non enhanced form

this. if he really was that naturally talented than he wouldn't have felt the need to juice in the first place
he got to that final with luck and by hitting the ball extremely hard because of the drugs, nothing remarkable about the player and I don't think he deserves to be really considered of of getting any credit when he has one lone great result which is a fake one at that |
