I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you either misunderstood what I wrote or simply didn't read it.

I did not say that Ferrer is a defensive player. These days, he tries to take initiative when he can. His problem, though, is that he lacks the natural firepower (perhaps stature, too) to simply bang balls from feet behind the baseline in the manner that guys like Tsonga and Berdych do. No, his brand of offense relies mostly on positioning, and point construction (repetition).
Nishikori is a similarly small guy, so he, too, can have a hard time dictating a point without playing the ball early. It is a mistake, however, to say that he's defensive because of that.
That's where I compared the two. Not in performances. Though if you want to do that, let's get real, Baghdatis played like shit in their meeting, so you're not impressing anyone with those numbers.
