Gilles, you are unbelievable. They are both warriors, and sad that one has to lose, but I'm so glad Gilles won.

Just really really hope that he didn't hurt himself too badly.

Re: 2013 Australia, new adventure begins in Down Under
I was literally moved to tears when he won and gave his on court interview there at the end. Just so proud.
This has made the tournament for me. I know he will be destroyed by Murray, but I don't care. I will relish this moment for quite some time.

Yes, he'll be destroyed by Murray, but who cares, he already made us so proud. Thank you Gilles. I can't say enough.

So proud of Gilles, fight and heart won him that match. Monfils lives up to his clown name again.
I seriously hope the knee issue isn't something bad, he is gonna be a lame duck against Murray whatever happens

Such a tough battle fought out into the wee hours of the morning. Maybe these night matches are great for the fans and the tournament finances, but they aren't that good for the players.

Gilles, what a fighter . So proud of him even though he might have to withdraw or get crushed by Murray. I think this match shows why we all support Gilles, he never gives up.

This thread is disgusting. It's filled with 90% of people saying the dumbest things about Gilles and tennis and yet they call themselves tennis fans. Ridiculous. If you can't even admit to yourself that, regardless of how you may feel about the quality of the tennis on display, the amount of heart shown by Gilles and the wil to win and just the overall inspiring nature of that, then you have no right to call yourself a tennis fan. I'm sorry but seriously. The announcers on my ESPN3 stream where riveted by Gilles' heart and wil and display of intestinal fortitude. I remember now why I pretty much stay in one section of this site. The Gilles section.
