Re: Rafael Nadal Injury/Health Update Thread : Nadal confirmed for Viña del Mar
Ignoring the funny snide remarks of others, I think this is good for the sport in general. I may hate Nadull but he is the greatest claycourter until proven otherwise and him playing a more international schedule is good for the popularity of the sport.

TV series with flashy girls was the only thing remaining to complete his comeback. Trendy Rafa. The only top male player to spend time with internationally famous women like Shakira.

Re: Rafael Nadal Injury/Health Update Thread : Nadal confirmed for Viña del Mar
Nice that he can come back in southAmerica
but he can't count 1000 points at once with these 3 tournaments, maximum 705 points before Indian Wells (and even maximum until october if he goes far in Monte-Carlo and Barcelona), because he has to replace other optionals.
That's the system for top-50 players and that's why it's impossible to "vulture" at this level. "Vulturing" is only important for challenger-players, the use of that notion in the top of the rankings is pure nonsense.

it will be very hard, at the moment, Nadal is 3000 points behind Ferrer for the French open seed.
And being seeded 5 in Indian Wells, Madrid or Roma might give him Djokovic or Murray in quarters (in semi in Miami and Monte-Carlo), which is indeed not pleasant for Djokovic or Murray, but that doesn't change the fact that it's not good for Nadal either.

where did you read it ? according to knowledgeable posters in previous pages, Benito Perez-Barbadillo said that he planned to play Miami, the rumour was wrong.

Is that so? Then that's good. But even if he plays Miami, he'll likely be 4th seed, as RF will be out of action there.

Not sure what the idea behind play in Miami, didn't he skip Miami last year because of the knees?

no he gave a walkover in semis but he was there.
He's the fans' favourite in this tournament, considering the important Latino community.

Good thing you are not a medical advisor/physio.
I don't really think Rafa cares about being #1,2,3 or 4 at the moment. He just wants to get healthy and be competitive again.
|
totally agree with you, Javi. Four consecutive weeks is crazy, even if it is clay. If he skips one of IW/Miami, then it's right back to clay after that. he shouldn't overdo it.

He should do the same again. A solid month on hard courts will do him no good right now. Uncle Tony will hopefully come up with a 'plan'.

There was no rumor. Cliff Drysdale's Alzheimer's was acting up again That, combined with Twitter, provided for a lethal dose of misinformation.
