Cracking result for Baker. Worked so hard to get back here after that terrible illness.
Think that he training camp with Murray in Miami may have helped him no end.

This Young seems promising but not yet ready for the big tournaments

So happy for Baker! He has worked so hard over the last few years, great to see him make the main draw. Plays Rosol in the 1st round and hopefully he catches him cold

Good one He was in the US Open MD in 2005 (!), counting qualies this was his 20th slam. The learning curve is not usually this long.

I think he may have been being sarcastic. Or maybe you both were.

I believe he was sarcastic, that's why I said "Good one" with a smile. I think all three of us had expected Young to have somewhat better career progression than what we've seen....

Yeah. Too much hype perhaps from an early age. Maybe burdened with too much expectation and hasn't coped well.
Whatever the reasons, I think it is safe to assume he is never going to materialise in to the player so many thought he was going to be.

Training with Andy was a master stroke for Jamie. After all he's been through, this win must be the sweetest of feelings. Chuffed for the lad.

Letdown? More like business as usual

Re: Aus Open FQR: Jamie Baker def Donald Young 6-4, 1-6, 6-3
Maybe Mugald needs to do some training with Andy.... I really think his issue is the fact that he's still being trained by his parents... What can his parents even provide him knowledge wise? I'm pretty sure none of them ever played on the tour, and whilst they may of been okay as trainers when he was a junior, now he's a pro he needs someone with at least some experience of the tour. Heck, maybe he should consider getting Roddick to coach him now Roddick has retired. The parents thing is damn stupid.

Looks like it's going to be an all English final this year then. Murray vs Baker. Could go 5.
