Most ranking points in slams
I decided to check which players have taken the most points in the different slams, and overall. Only Open Era is counted, starting with FO 1968. All results are given with the current point scale of 2000-1200-720-360-180-90-45-10, despite this scale only being used the last few years. Older results are translated. A win is rewarded more now than in the past, so keep that in mind.

Re: Most ranking points in slams
Wow, this is awesome. A lot of work has gone into this. It's interesting that 5 men have each dominated the US Open more than any man has dominated the Australian Open. Nadal should overtake Connors for the greatest domination of a Slam before he retires. Federer a chance at Wimbledon.
I used to produce many similar threads and would usually start a General Messages thread instead. I'm not sure you'll get the exposure you deserve here. Or you could maybe put the link to this thread in your signature. Of course just suggestions, and understand if you don't.

Re: Most ranking points in slams
Thanks, man I will keep your suggestions in mind. I won't do anything more at first, though. I have a feeling I forgot someone. Those frequenting this subforum will undoubtedly be best qualified to remind me of who it might be, if indeed there are anyone.
I've already made one change myself, adding Johan Kriek to the AO list. I didn't forget him, but the ATP page didn't allow me to make a search for him until now.

Re: Most ranking points in slams
Thanks
From my calculations, Kodes has 5730 points in the French open. And it might be interesting to calculate his overall points.
Noah is just short for the French Open : 4395 points
suggestions of names you might have not checked : Muster in Roland-Garros, Kafelnikov, Orantes, Gerulaitis, Tanner, ...

GM is shit, it's much better here where people who have interest in those things can read them.

Re: Most ranking points in slams
Kodes! Of course! Thanks, duong, I knew I forgot someone. I'll put him in for FO and do a proper total a little later today.
I checked Kafelnikov, Muster, Noah and Gerulaitis. They didn't make the list.
I corrected a little error just now. Don't know if anyone was surprised to see Ivanisevic top-15 in the FO. It was a typo in my summation file....

Thanks
I am planning an expansion from top-15 to a higher number, but will wait a bit before I publish more detail so as not to forget too many players.
Kodes, who was mentioned earlier, was not really close to top-20 overall, but his 11160 points is the highest from someone with 0 points from one slam - he never played the AO.

Re: Most ranking points in slams
Wow, that's a good argument to call Roger Lord of Wimbledon too.
Would it be possible to do ranking points on each surface?

Good idea, I'll see if I can get that incorporated in the next update My data file does not lend itself immediately to such summation, but with some tweaking it should not be a problem.

Re: Most ranking points in slams
I just realized my 27/1 update was worthless, somehow it wasn't taken into account due to forum problems. Now we have the new numbers visible for all to see, or if not - let me know.
