Re: Milos Raonic
I saw bits and pieces of the match streamed. Encouraging signs: Looks like Milos may be making some progress on ROS. Really hammered a bunch of Hewitt's 2nd Serves. And seemed to get a few 1st ROS blocks deep. Better then last year. OTOH still way too inconsistent (not sure how many UFE he had but seemed like a lot). Anyone see most of the match and can comment?
Too bad he didn't win. Would have liked to see him go against JMDP.

Re: Milos Raonic
Milos's deal with New Balance is worth 5 millions over a 5 years period.
He's currently overpaid for what he's achieved but could be underpaid in 3-4 years if he becomes a Slam winner.
There's probably massive bonuses promised.

Re: Milos Raonic
Wow - what an easy draw for Milos into the third round. After could get much worse. Overall not a bad day for Milos

I agree I don't think it is a lot of money. I am sure they can drop him(or reduced the payment) if he drops below a predetermined certain ranking/level. They do that all the time

Great. Even more money that Canada will see nothing from since he decided to move to Monaco and abandon Canada after all they've done for him.

Re: Milos Raonic
Raonic's deal is now reportedly worth 40 millions over five years.
Many active players never got that after winning Slams and the guy hasn't reached a Slam QF yet.
Talk about pressure and expectations.

Re: Milos Raonic
I imagine nobody puts higher expectations on Milos than Milos himself, so I doubt he's too worried about that. Glad to see he's taking advantage of his popularity and marketability while he can. He's doing exactly what a player should in his position.
Next match up is Rosol on a non-televised court, so we won't have a clue how he's doing. He's going to need to do better than he did yesterday, though. He performed much better against PHM and Blake last fall after a poor performance against Giraldo at the USO, so he is capable of bouncing back quickly.

I was wondering about that because when he signed, an unnamed source said it was the kind of deal a top 5 player would get.

Yeah it is just Balance or Raonic camp inflating the value of the contract. It is a common practice.
Don't forget they can drop him at anytime.

Re: Milos Raonic
Pretty good crushing of Kohlshrieber who never got a handle on the spin on Milos serve (something that Fed has struggled with as well vs Milos). I assume that Fed-Milos will be the night match on Monday, which sucks for us watching and sucks for the slower and colder conditions.

Re: Milos Raonic
It might not be the night match, Murray hasn't got night match yet and I believe Fed has had it twice.
This is why Milos needed to do well in Chennai, had he won 2 matches there he would have been the 12th seed and wouldn't have had to play Federer(actually if he was put where the current 12 seed was he would have to play Chardy )

Re: Milos Raonic
It is the night match, and second on court after Serena. Start time no earlier than 4:00am EST and more likely around 5:00am. The conditions of being so late definitely favour Fed, but Milos can still beat him IMHO.
