Hard draw or not, he is still Federer and even at 31 he is a better player than all of them if he is focused. Let's wait and see, he's been underestimated before.

Davydenko has just defeated Ferrer and Paire Cilic, and both have a huge talent and a great backhand.

You can hardly make it more dangerous for first two rounds.

Previous years in his early year matches, Fed struggled against the likes of Thomas Schoorel

They're still harder than the other top 4's first and second round opponents easily. So quiet down will you.

True, but it's still the first two rounds Meaning a 0,0002% chance of losing for guys like Federer.

The hairy russian had Olderer on the ropes several times in his prime and then couldn't even get it done. Nevermind now that he's washed up.

And Paire, well, just lol

So, you're telling me you're actually scared when Federer walks out on court against Paire and Davydenko?

Seems legit.

precisely it's first two rounds and it will be his first matches of the year. Previous years he struggled in his early matches against much much worse players.

Besides, I don't think Raonic and Tsonga or Gasquet are much more dangerous than these guys at the moment

They are scared from everyone nowdays. Wish Feddy can sit on the chair and someone present him trophy, that would be perfect.

The draw is relatively bad but it could be worse

At least Federer managed to avoid Tomas Bashdyck in his quarter Someone who beat Fed in a GS recently

He may have a harder earlier draw, but he's still going to win every match. At most Paire, Davy, and Tomic could take a set off Fed. Going 4 sets for his first 3 matches will not be good for Fed fans, but Raonic beating Fed on this surface? Won't happen. Don't expect more than 4 sets for that one either. There's the QF streak kept alive. Tsonga as his opponent? Fed through to the semi's. Harder path than Djoko and Murray, but still pretty much guaranteed to get there.

Don't forget that at the WTF last year, we all expected Murray to thrash Fed, but it didn't happen. So I wouldn't pencil Murray in for the win straight away.

Djokovic though is assured another final unless he gets injured during a match....

Default Re: Fed's QF streak has ended.

It is rough, and he certainly could lose pretty early especially since it is his first tournament of the year, but I think it is also unlikely.. Not sure Paire would really be able to do anything, Federer destroyed him Basel a couple of months ago. Davydenko showed great form in Doha, but we have to remember, the only two wins Nikolay has had over Federer was during that stretch where Federer wasn't playing near his best while Davydenko was definitely hitting top form, yet Davy was only able to take one set off Federer in Australia that year (albeit it was a pretty tight match but Davydenko never took 100% control anyways). Klizan would be much more interesting against Federer than Tomic. He definitely has a great lefty game and can overpower Roger while Tomic will be "out varied" by Federer like their other matches. If Raonic and Federer play during a night session and if courts are slow as they usually are, Raonic shouldn't be able to do much. His QF should be easy for him as well, however, I doubt it will be either Tsonga or Gasquet that play Federer.
