What PR move? No-one would be bothered if Sharapova was lesbian, its not really an issue in womens tennis anymore
Its not like men would stop finding her attractive, which is all that matters anyway

She's the highest paid female athlete in the world. A hetero image is VERY important, especially to her sponsors. We haven't come that far as of yet; at least not when it comes to money and marketing. It would be AMAZING if that was the case, but it's not. My two cents...

as far as I know Sharapova had a menage with Safina but it is something that dates back to 2005 if I recall correctly.

Homosexuality is still an issue in the tennis world (and the sports world in general, and the whole world obviously) and of course that means WTA too not just ATP.

I feel a few of you are being dishonest to how homosexuality is viewed in sports in general. A person of Sharapova's stature would NEVER come out. I could care less about a couple of men getting off on her being a lesbian - they are the minority. Being in the closet is safer than her coming out and damaging her bank. The rumors of her dalliances with other WTA players have followed her around for the last few years. Again gay people know their own and recognize why they stay closeted.
