Re: Isner withdraws from Australian Open.
Terrible for tennis Regardless of what you personally think of his game, he is one of the few people in tour capable of beating the top players and holding it together mentally instead of choking 100% of the time.
Tennis needs Isner to get better, especially in time for him to get his ranking up for the USO to make that tournament interesting instead of counting the days before the top 4 in the semis.

This is what I don't understand, especially given what he said after he lost about how his knee just needs rest.

And before all why he did not do like tsonga, withdraw from Sydney to be operational for Melbourne.. I consider Sydney but Melbourne is much more important!

Re: Isner withdraws from Australian Open.
Isner needs to fix his body and his head. Being a fellow American and a UGA grad, I've pulled for Isner since he turned pro but if his noxious attitude doesn't change I don't care if I ever see him again.

Re: Isner withdraws from Australian Open.
Qualifying draw is going on, so lucky loser will replace him, if he is out. If the qualies hasn't started, 1st alternate takes his place.
It happened at RG f.e. this year. Monfils withdrew 3 or 4 hours before first match Q, Karol Beck moved IN as a 1st alt. and his place in Q draw was replaced by someone else. But if Monfils had pulled out after some matches started, LL gets his place as far I am concerned.
