Default Are there any rules about deleting threads?

I posted a translation of an article in French on a thread a few days ago and I can't access it. The thread was about the comments that the Marseille TD, Caujolle, made about Roger, calling him "sad and banal".

My posts on that thread do not appear in my list of posts, so the thread must have been deleted.

I wonder whether there are rules concerning the deletion of threads or whether it's a discretionary decision made by the moderators.

Thanks.

I recall the thread being locked. I'm surprised that they decided to delete it as well. Locking it causes it to sink down the list of threads further and further into obscurity, so usually that's enough, I would think.

If this was a thread you started, it does not seem to be anywhere.

That means it was probably merged. You need more details for me to find it in that case.

Do a normal search for "Caujolle". This proves the thread is non-searchable, he was mentioned there. An admin-search will tell you if it is still somewhere unaccessable or removed entirely.

PS! Would it be possible to lower the "30 seconds between searches"-threshold? Mods often encourages searches, this rule discourages plenty. 10 seconds is enough, surely.

Exactly. Locking a thread should be enough if it gets out of control. Or deleting posts with offensive content. Deleting a whole thread is almost like saying that certain subjects are off-limits.

No, I didn't start it. I seem to remember that it was Alex999 who started it.

I posted there and got a good-rep by Sham Kay, so I have a link to the thread with the rep, that's why I know the title of the thread started like this: "ouch, this is so harsh...".

But when I click on the link, it says that I don't have permission to access the page. Also, all my posts on that thread have disappeared from my list of posts. So it doesn't look as if it's been merged.

I do remember seeing that thread title in GM, but I didn't go in to actually read the thread. I think I chickened out when I saw the word "harsh"

I read some of the thread. It was a bit controversial, but nothing deletable in what I saw personally.

I read that thread too and did not see any posts in the first page or two that worth a deletion of the entire thread.

Search GM again, it is there now.

Thank you very much.

I think deleting threads is a very delicate business, it might be construed as censorship. It's not worth it: the thread will die a natural death.
