Melzer is like Karlovic, Isner, Verdasco. Top players want to avoid him, low ranked players want to draw him

I dunno about Isner and Nando, they don't really lose to low ranked guys.

Verdasco lost to Lu on clay. That is all that needs to be said. Isner is generally good enough mentally to beat lower ranked guys but you'll not be run over by him

That was on Madrid's fake clay.

Not sure many top players spend their time worrying about Verdasco these days. The Verdasco of three years ago maybe.

Grigor is in Australia since the 24th, so he seems very serious about this swing.

If the new Swedish academy has given him even a 1% improvement during off season, he should be a very, very hard nut to crack for Raonic, for whom an average serving day means losing.

It looks like Milos' been on vacation till the very last moment (started a 3 hours drive + 22 hours flight on the 27th of December from Montenegro), while Dimitrov's been working real hard, so if the point of predicting is just re-reading the past, then it's not so hard.

But the point is to actually try and predict what will happen, not what would have happened last year, so Milos is up for a hard time i think.

A potential Melzer in third round would be considered a good draw for Dimi i think, so from there on you never know.

I voted "Other", let's see.
If Milos plays even at an average level, I would be surprised to see Dimitrov trouble him. But maybe he's improved since last year.

To be fair, Milos played at probably an average level at the end of last season, he did not fair so well.

Milos played terrible at the end of his season after Tokyo. Was completely wiped out (or so it appeared). The matches he played against Matosevic (Shanghai, W) and Muller (Valencia, L) were among the worst he played over the entire year.

How is a pretty easy win one of the worst matches, and Muller was playing pretty well when they met, so I don't think those matches were that poor.

How is a pretty easy win one of the worst matches, and Muller was playing pretty well when they met, close match too, so I don't think those matches were that poor, Querrey was poor though.

I can only assume you didn't watch it. And lucky you because you couldn't pay me to watch that awful shit again. The only reason Matosevic didn't win is because Marinko couldn't even hit basic ground strokes without making an error. Disgusting stuff. I was embarrassed for the both of them after it was over. That should have been my realization that Milos had nothing left to give for the rest of the 2012, but I still held out hope he could pick up some points.

Another error fest from Milos. Unlike Matosevic, Muller actually played fine but Milos had nothing working (including his serve). It stayed close because it was a Milos/Muller all-serve match, but it was truly poor on Milos' part.

If those two were average days for Milos, he wouldn't have gotten to #13 in the world in 2012.

Murray will do what he does, crash out after a match or two. The last two slam finals he's been in he kamikaze'd out of the warm up tourneys.

I'm no Fakervic fan but he needs to save tennis, sadly tree trunk legs will be fresh. Interesting he's never questioned...

I'd be astonished to learn he cared enough about those saying his slam was a fluke to feel he has something to prove to them.
