Gavin had horrible blisters on/in his foot hence the poor attitude and scoreline in that match.
He is a great guy and a hard competitor....who probably should not of even stepped on court for that match.

I know it must be nice to play in Australia in ATP Qualies but I'm surprised more of our players don't play the Challenger in Noumea. A first round loss should cover the airfare, accommodation is taken care of and Noumea looks a nice enough place to start off the season.

yeah, and considering how weak the draw is for a 75k+H challenger (the main draw cut-off was in the 1500's ) a few players not high ranked high enough, or didn't receive a wildcard, into Brisbane like Klein, Jones etc. should have played. Groth said on twitter he wasn't going to make the cut for Brisbane quallies, so he flew to Noumea. hopefully it pays off for him

I remember thinking the same thing. It's an ideal place for Aussies.

The cost to get there was horrific! Return flights back for AO quallies were full or at difficult times. Plus last year the Brisbane cut went to a doubles ranking but this year Duckworth was last in and the other non TA favorites were left stranded.
